Who we are

This policy describes how PineNode, Inc. (“Your Own Lane,” “we,” or “us”) handles information in the Your Own Lane iPhone app and on this website. Your Own Lane is in development. Some services described below are conditional on availability; we do not collect information through features that are not enabled. Information we handle

  • Swimmer journals: names, optional birthdays and competition categories, goals, technique assessments, practice and race times, splits, meet details, team information and profile links that you provide.
  • Lesson notes: coach names, lesson dates and durations, costs, feedback and homework.
  • Videos: clips you select or record, related metadata and review notes. Cloud upload is optional and available only when the service is enabled.
  • Accounts: email and authentication information handled by Firebase Authentication. Device use may create an anonymous Firebase identity for private backups.
  • Purchases: when enabled, verified Apple subscription information and a derived account identifier used to associate access with your Your Own Lane account. Apple handles payment details; Your Own Lane does not receive your payment-card number.
  • Website requests: your email address, selected topic, message, adult confirmation and any launch-update preference you submit.
  • Service information: hosting and service providers may process IP addresses, timestamps, browser/device details and operational logs to deliver and protect their services.

How we use information

We use information to provide your journal, calculate progress and time-standard comparisons, store and restore backups, recognize subscriptions, respond to requests and protect the service. If you ask for launch updates, we use your email for those updates; you can unsubscribe by replying. We do not add support requesters to launch emails without their choice.

Storage and service providers

Journals and videos are stored on your device. Journal records and video metadata back up through Google Firebase when connected. Cloud video files are uploaded only when you choose that option and the feature is enabled. Firebase provides authentication, database and, when deployed, storage and deletion processing. Apple provides app distribution and purchase services. Netlify hosts this website and processes its forms. These providers may process information in the United States and other locations under their service arrangements.

Account permissions restrict access to cloud records. No system is completely secure, and Your Own Lane does not claim end-to-end encryption. This website includes no advertising pixels or third-party analytics scripts. We do not use advertising cookies. Hosting and form providers may use technical measures for service delivery and abuse prevention.

When information is shared

Your Own Lane does not sell personal information or use it for targeted advertising. Journals and clips are not automatically published to a public feed. Information is processed by the providers above for the requested services. We may disclose information when necessary to comply with applicable law, protect rights or security, or in connection with a business transfer subject to applicable protections.

If you export or share a journal or clip with another app, that recipient receives a copy governed by its own practices. We cannot revoke those copies. The current build does not send videos or journal content to an AI analysis provider. A saved Swimcloud link is not an active data integration.

Retention and deletion

We retain journal data while needed to provide the account and its backups or until you request deletion, subject to legal or security needs. The current backup system keeps three rotating snapshots per installation; older legacy backups may also exist. Removing an entry does not immediately remove it from earlier snapshots.

Where automated account deletion is enabled, it requests removal of the account’s profiles, journals, backups and uploaded videos. Local data on the requesting device is removed after the server accepts the request. Offline devices must reconnect before they can receive deletion status. A minimal deletion-status record, including an account identifier and timestamps, is retained to prevent stale writes and late uploads from recreating deleted content. The current implementation has no scheduled expiry for that protective record; it is not a copy of your journal.

Automated deletion is awaiting deployment in the current development build. Contact us through the support form to request deletion or assistance. Website requests and launch subscriptions are kept while needed to respond or provide the updates you requested, subject to legal and security needs. You may request their deletion. Exported copies outside Your Own Lane are not under our control. Deleting an account does not cancel Apple subscription billing.

Your choices and rights

You can edit journal entries, export your journal, share selected clips, choose whether to upload videos when available, and manage subscriptions through Apple. You can request access, correction or deletion of information, or withdraw a launch-email preference, using our support and privacy request form. We may ask for information reasonably needed to verify your request, but never your password.

Depending on your location and applicable law, you may also have rights to portability, restriction or objection to processing, withdrawal of consent, and a complaint to your local data-protection authority. We handle requests according to applicable requirements and will explain any limits that apply.

Children’s information

Your Own Lane is intended to be operated by parents, guardians, coaches and adult swimmers. Children under 13 should not create accounts or submit website forms. Adults should only enter a child’s information or record and upload videos when they have appropriate authority and any necessary permissions. Please avoid recording unrelated children or entering unnecessary sensitive details.

If you believe a child has directly provided information without appropriate authorization, contact us so we can investigate and address it. A statement in this policy does not replace any consent or safeguards required for a particular use of the service.

Changes and contact

We may update this policy when the service or its information practices change. The updated version will be posted here with a new date. Where required, we will provide additional notice or obtain consent for material changes. For privacy questions, contact PineNode, Inc. through our support and privacy request form.
